Our Story
Each memeber of PowerLines met because of our love for the art of spoken word. Our list of poetry family extends far beyond the number of performers that people see for PLP. We each formed a bond with one another after attending open mic events throughout the city. We began hosting writing sessions at each other's homes and challening one another to hone our crafts. What resulted was the formation of the PowerLines Poets. Since 2011 we have each featured in venues thoughout the region to include Louisiana, Florida, as well as several cities in Alabama. In 2013, we also formed Mobile, Alabama's first slam team Mobile Speaks and went on to compete in the regional poetry slam, Southern Fried. We look forward to what the future holds for us and will continue to try and spread spoken word throughout the city.
